Therapy for Anxiety, Burnout & Relationship Concerns

You’re capable of handling a lot. Maybe you’re tired of having to.

You may be the thoughtful one. The dependable one. The person who notices what everyone else needs before they ever have to ask.

You show up. You keep things moving. You handle it.

And somewhere along the way, your own needs became harder to hear.

Maybe your mind rarely shuts off. You replay conversations and wonder whether you said the wrong thing or disappointed someone. You agree to things when part of you desperately wants to say no. You know you're exhausted, but resting brings its own uncomfortable layer of guilt.

Your relationships matter deeply to you- but sometimes maintaining them feels like losing pieces of yourself.

You might find yourself thinking:

“I’m overwhelmed all the time.”

“I don’t know how to set boundaries without feeling guilty.”

“Why am I always taking care of everyone else?”

“I understand my patterns. Why can’t I stop repeating them?”

Therapy can give us a place to get curious about those questions without judging you for the answers.

We can look at what you’re experiencing now, the relationships and experiences that shaped you, and the ways you learned to cope along the way.

Not because there is something inherently wrong with you- but because understanding why a pattern exists can make changing it feel a whole lot more possible.

Therapy Services for Adults in Illinois & Iowa

I provide virtual individual therapy for adults throughout Illinois and Iowa. My work is relational, trauma- and attachment-informed, and tailored to you- not built around a one-size-fits-all approach.

Anxiety Therapy for Overwhelm & Self-Worth

If your mind rarely slows down, therapy can help you understand the anxiety beneath the overthinking, self-criticism, and pressure to “do better,” so you can build more self-trust and ease.

Relationship, Codependency & Boundaries Therapy

For those who struggle with people-pleasing, guilt, or over-functioning in relationships, we’ll work on patterns of codependency, communication, and learning how to stay connected without losing yourself.

Burnout, Trauma & Attachment Therapy

If you’ve been carrying too much for too long, we’ll explore how past experiences and survival strategies still shape your stress and relationships- and how to begin responding to your needs in the present.

Meet Maris Weston, LCSW

A relational therapist for women in Illinois & Iowa who won’t just sit across from you and nod.

Hi, I’m Maris.

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of meaningful therapy, which means I care a lot about creating a space where you can actually feel comfortable being yourself.

I'm warm, compassionate, curious, and engaged in our work together.

I’ll listen closely, ask questions, reflect things back to you, offer feedback, help you problem-solve, celebrate the moments when something finally clicks, and- once we've built the trust to do so- compassionately challenge you when I think it might help.

I'm not interested in forcing you into a particular therapeutic mold. Different people need different things, and part of my job is paying attention to you and adjusting how we work based on what feels helpful.

And yes, there will probably be humor.

Therapy can involve incredibly difficult things. I still believe there can be warmth, connection, hope, and moments when we get to laugh together along the way.

What Therapy With Me Looks Like

01. We Get Curious

We slow things down and get curious about what’s happening beneath the surface- and the experiences and relationships that may have shaped it.

02. We Build Understanding & Self-Compassion

We make sense of your patterns in the context of your story, replacing judgment with greater understanding and compassion for yourself.

03. We Practice Something Different

We turn insight into change- practicing new ways to communicate, set boundaries, honor your needs, and respond to yourself with more compassion.
